Mallorca is one of those golf destinations where everything simply works. A Mediterranean climate, the sea, excellent food, relatively short driving distances and a superb choice of courses make the island an ideal destination for a golf holiday in Mallorca.

This package combines 4 nights at Meliá Calviá Beach with breakfast with three very different courses in the southwest of the island: Real Golf de Bendinat, Golf de Andratx and Santa Ponsa I.

Meliá Calviá Beach – golf by the Mediterranean

Located directly by the sea, Meliá Calviá Beach is a great base for a short Mallorca golf break.

For me, this is exactly what you want from a four-night golf trip: breakfast in the morning, head out for 18 holes and return to the Mediterranean afterwards.

The hotel combines modern comfort with a genuine holiday atmosphere while several excellent golf courses are within convenient reach.

Real Golf de Bendinat – strategy over power

Real Golf de Bendinat is not a course where automatically reaching for the driver on every tee is going to produce your best score.

The rolling terrain and varied holes require accuracy and intelligent course management. On many holes, positioning your ball correctly is more valuable than gaining another twenty metres from the tee.

Driver or fairway wood? Attack or lay up? Go for the flag or aim for the safe side of the green?

Bendinat regularly asks these questions, which is exactly why I enjoy this type of course.

Golf de Andratx – spectacular and challenging

Golf de Andratx, close to Camp de Mar, is a completely different test.

The course is hilly, challenging and at times spectacular. Elevated tees, significant changes in elevation and demanding greens ensure that you need to concentrate throughout the round.

Its famously long par 5 is one of the standout holes, but there is much more to Andratx than a single hole.

My advice: don't try to overpower this course. Good course management will usually save more shots than an extra few yards from the tee.

Golf Santa Ponsa I – time to let the driver work

Golf Santa Ponsa I provides an excellent contrast to Bendinat and Andratx.

The course feels more open and generous from the tee, while its length gives longer hitters more opportunities to use the driver.

Wide fairways do not automatically mean easy scoring, however. Long holes and strategically positioned hazards ensure that Santa Ponsa I remains an enjoyable challenge.

After the tighter Bendinat and the elevation changes of Andratx, it is the perfect third course for this golf trip.

Three courses – three different challenges

The variety is what makes this Mallorca golf holiday particularly attractive.

Bendinat is about accuracy and strategy.

Andratx delivers elevation changes, spectacular holes and a serious challenge.

Santa Ponsa I offers more room and allows the longer clubs to come into play.

Three rounds, three very different golfing experiences.

Mallorca after the final putt

Four nights and three green fees also leave enough time to enjoy Mallorca away from the fairways.

After golf, head to Port d'Andratx, Puerto Portals or Palma for dinner, drinks or an evening by the Mediterranean.

That is one of the reasons Mallorca works so well as a golf destination. Golf may be the main reason for travelling, but the holiday certainly doesn't end on the 18th green.

My view as a golfer

For a short golf holiday in Mallorca, this is a very well-balanced package.

Bendinat tests your strategy, Andratx challenges almost every part of your game, while Santa Ponsa I gives the driver a little more freedom.

Add a comfortable hotel by the Mediterranean and Mallorca's restaurants and nightlife after golf, and you have all the ingredients for a great golf break.

Four nights, three very different golf courses and the Mediterranean on your doorstep – sometimes that's all you need for a great Mallorca golf trip.

About the destination
